Mouli is an exponent of Odissi, a supremely elegant dance form originating from the temples of Orissa in India. She has been intensively trained in the delicate art form under the personal tutelage of the legendary Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra, the undisputed master and father of Odissi dance.
A talented and vibrant performer, Mouli has been mesmerizing audiences for a decade at museums, festivals, temples and conferences in India and United States. Mr. Malcolm Rogers, director of Museum of Fine Arts- Boston noted after a recent performance, “It was spectacular, Mouli’s performance magically brings to life the paintings and sculptures that we have in display at our museum…”
Mouli was felicitated by The Orissa Association of New England in 2001 for her outstanding performance and dedication to the dance form. She was recognized in March 2008, by the Akshaya Patra foundation USA, for her efforts in raising substantial funds for the Non Profit that provides food and education to underserved children in India.
A loving and dedicated teacher Mouli has been inspiring a new generation of young dancers. Mouli is committed to preserving the authenticity of Guruji’s style through her classes and performances. She gently introduces and guides students of all ages into the depths of this difficult dance form.
